Creating Sections

 

The instructions/screenshots below are for the New Look of Infinite Campus. For directions using the Classic Look of Infinite Campus, use the directions at the bottom of this page.

New Look of Infinite Campus

Below are directions and screenshots on how to create a course section:

  1. Select the appropriate year/school at the top of the screen

  2. Click on the magnifying glass at the top left of the screen

  3. Select Course/Section

  4. You can enter a specific course name or just click the search icon to show all courses

  5. Click on the Course Name. This will make the Related Tools field pop up on the right side of the screen.

  6. Choose Course Sections in the Related Tools field

  7. Click on Add a Section

  8. In the Section Editor, give your section a section number. (You do not need to add the Teacher Display Name here, once you assign the primary teacher this field will populate.)

  9. Add a Team to this section if applicable.

  10. Check the Homeroom box if applicable.

  11. Select the Periods that you need to set up your section in the Section Schedule Placement.

  12. Click the Create Section button at the bottom of the screen.

  13. If a Primary Teacher is needed(which it most commonly is), follow these directions on Assigning a Primary Teacher to a Course starting with step 4.

 

Classic Look

For users still using the Classic Look of Infinite Campus, use the instructions below. It is our recommendation that you change your user interface to the New Look of Infinite Campus.

Path Search > Course/Section > [choose section] > Staff History tab

Below are directions and screenshots on how to create a course section.

  1. Select Course/Section from drop down menu.

  2. Type in the name of the desired course and select Go. (You can just click Go to see a list of all courses on your school’s course deck.)

  3. Select the desired course by clicking on the name.

  4. Click on the Sections tab.

  5. Click Add a Section.

  6. In the Section Editor, give your section a section number. (You do not need to add the Teacher Display Name here, once you assign the primary teacher this field will populate.)

  7. Add a Team to this section if applicable.

  8. Check the Homeroom box if applicable.

  9. Select the Periods that you need to set up your section in the Section Schedule Placement.

  10. Click the Create Section button at the bottom of the screen.
