Schedule Blockers

There should be no empty periods in a students' schedule.  We have created many blocker courses  to fill periods on the schedule when students are not in regular academic courses.  These course numbers start with "N" and should already be loaded on your course deck.  These can be used to denote where the student is during the duration of the school day when not in a traditional classroom setting.  These blocker courses are available to use in every school; however, the course may need to have sections added before students can be scheduled.

Cross enrolled students that do not attend their Home school due to a secondary enrollment to a program MUST be scheduled into the appropriate full-day blocker course at the home school. The schedule start date must match the secondary enrollment date. This can be found on the enrollment tab.

Attendance Course Blockers

The courses below require attendance to be taken on the students in the course.

 No Show - Course # N90130

This is a blocker course for students who have been enrolled but have not reported to school.  Create a section of this course to span the entire school day, and schedule students into this course for attendance taking.  This will take students off teacher rosters and will give you an accurate reflection of available seats.  When scheduling a student in the NO SHOW course, use the next school day.  This course is generally used when a student has not attended for two weeks, there has been no notification of illness, and staff are actively attempting to locate the student. While students are in this course, carry out appropriate attendance interventions per the Unable to Locate Checklist Form (log interventions on the student's PLP log).  An electronic withdraw request can be submitted via CCSDAS if all interventions on the Unable to Locate Checklist are completed or if a records request is received.

 VCAP Program

Students participating in the VCAP program are enrolled in the Educational Options school, in one of three calendars:

  • VCAP - Credit Advancement

    • These are students earning credits for courses they are taking for the first time online

  • VCAP - Credit Recovery

    • These are students re-taking courses online to earn credits for courses they have previously failed or dropped

  • VCAP - Grad Completion

    • These are students who only need one or two courses to complete for graduation; they are not taking any other classes at their home school.

If students are enrolled in one of the calendars above, one of the blocker courses below must be used on the home school’s schedule:

N92110 - VIRTUAL LEARNING DURING SCHOOL

Student has this course on their primary enrollment school schedule for the period(s) they are taking virtual courses.  Actual virtual courses are assigned on the Educational Options > VCAP Credit Recovery or VCAP Credit Advancement calendar. Students are cross enrolled to this calendar and assigned courses by using the application process in the CCSDAS. This is a POSITIVE ATTENDANCE course, meaning that students' start/end times must be logged for their time in the class each day.
