Quality Points Scenarios
This document goes through some specific scenarios as described on the Quality Points Calculation Formulas page.
Percentage = grade entered by the teacher for the grading period
Grade = based on the percentage, this is determined from the Grade Determination Scale for Quarter & Final Grades
Quality Points = using the same Grade Determination Scale for Quarter & Final Grades scale, the quality points earned is determined by where the grade percentage falls on the scale
QP Calculation = use the appropriate formula from the table at the top of this page, depending on how the course is set up
NOTE: If the student was present less than 1/2 of the grading period, a grade of “N” (No Grade) should be entered as the quarter grade, not an “F”. An “N” is not factored into the GPA for the term. This grade can be changed later using the Academic Grade Change process if the student completes the appropriate work for the term in question.
If the grade remains an “N”, when the final grade calculation is done, it would be appropriate to update the divisor to get the correct quality points grade for the student.
