Quality Points Report / Updater

Board Policy 5421 states that the final grade for students in grades 6-12 are to be based on quality points.  There is a tool in Infinite Campus for middle and high school teachers and administrators to use to determine if the final grades posted in Infinite Campus are in compliance with Board policy.

GENERATE THE QUALITY POINTS CALCULATION REPORT FOR REVIEW

You must be in Campus Tools to access the Quality Points Calculator.  If you are in Campus Instruction when you log in, follow the instructions listed here to switch back and forth between these two modules.

PATH: Index > Grading & Standards > Quality Points Calc.

Admins can run this tool for any teacher (one teacher at a time). Teachers can only run this tool for courses they are teaching.

  1. Select the correct Term

  2. Select the Teacher for which you wish to run the report. (Teachers will not have this option)

Administrators - if you do not see the teacher drop-down list, then you are probably assigned as a teacher to one or more courses (LUNCH, NO SHOW, etc.). You will need to remove yourself from these courses before this list will appear.

  1. Select the course Section(s) to view when generating the report.

    1. Select multiple course sections by holding the CTRL key while clicking on the desired courses.

  2. Leave the Run Update field on No to generate and review the report before making changes.

IMPORTANT: Leave the Run Update tool set to NO. Changing to Yes will update all grades for the courses selected, even if you have some exceptions. We do not recommend using this tool at all for updates; instead, use the report as a guide and manually update any grades in your grade book as needed.

  1. Click the Generate Report button to see the results.

REVIEWING THE QUALITY POINTS CALCULATION REPORT

The Quality Points Calc. reports only students with a discrepancy between the posted final grade and the final grade based on quality points.  Students with no differences will not appear on the report.

  1. The number of students for the selected courses will display at the top of the report.

  2. The course number and name display in this column.  If multiple course sections were selected, the courses will show in numeric order.  There will not be a page break for each new section.

  3. Section Number and primary teacher for the selected course sections.

  4. The Student Name and Student Number are listed.

  5. Quarter grades are shown with the Quarter 1 grade appearing above the Quarter 2 grade, and Quarter 3 grade above Quarter 4 grade.

  6. If an exam grade was entered, it will appear above the total quality points the student earned in the selected course section.

  7. The Divisor appears above the Quality Point Calculation for each student in the selected course sections.

  8. The Old Final Grade displays above the New Final grade for each student in the selected course sections.  The Old Final Grade represents the students current final grade.  The New Final Grade is what the report has determined to be the correct final grade based on Quality Points.
