Windows 7 Deployment FAQ

 

  1. Will all software work in Windows 7?
    • At first not all software will be supported, however as time goes on and as needed we will be creating new images and upgrading software so that it can be run on Windows 7.
  2. What about SWS or streamed applications?
    • SWS is not currently supported in Windows 7.
    • Applications can be found under the Start menu.
  3. How about all the apps and systems I use through the intranet portal?
    • All CCS portal applications will work in Windows 7 without issue.
  4. Will 64 bit programs work in Windows 7?
    • Yes, as well as 32 bit programs. The only time 64 bit programs will not work is if the hardware is simply unable to handle it.
  5. Can I install a program on my own?
    • No, you will need to call the help desk at 365-8425 for assistance in installing any new program.
  6. How do I add a printer?
    • In the task bar at the bottom of your screen is a printer icon. Clicking on that opens the Printer Mapping Utility (PMU). Simply find your printer in the list and click on add.
  7. How can I find out what printers I have added already?
    • Click on the start button, and then click on devices and printers.
  8. How do I set my default printer?
    • Go to devices and printers in your start menu, then right click on printer you want to be default and select "set as default printer."
