  1. All the Thin Clients in the computer lab are on a black screen saying connecting to provisional sever
    1. This will happen from time to time, do not reboot these computers will boot up but might take a little time for them to boot
  2. Why are the Computers so slow today?
    1. Could be a few reasons
      1. Band width is being used to stream video so if there is an important presidential speech or something very news worthy a lot of schools might be streaming it
      2. Could be some work being done to the network and traffic is being re routed
    2. Please be Patient and if it persist into to a second day don't hesitate and call the helpdesk to see what might be going on.
  3. Is there a way of access my files from home?
    1. Yes through the portal and as long as your files are on the Drives you have on the network just go to ccsportal.columbus.k12.oh.us and log on there as if you were here at school
  4. I am a laptop user. Why do I have an IP address 0.0.0.0 and another one that starts with 10.?
    1. Laptops have the ability to connect to wireless access points. The top IP shows the IP address that is being picked up from a wireless network. The second IP that starts with the 10. is the IP address that is being pulled from the network cable plugged into the laptop.
  5. How can I be sure that my documents will be saved on the network every time?
    1. When you click on Save as, browse to My Computer. Click on Q: My Documents. Select the folder you want to save in. Type in the name you want for your document. Click the Save button.
  6. Am I allowed to bring my own equipment from home to use in the class room?
    1. As of right now, only a few sites are part of the program that allows this. Though personal equipment can be used there is no guarantee that it will interact with CCS network or systems. Remember to contact the help desk before using it to add the equipment to the network if possible.
  7. My room does not have wireless access. Can I bring my own wireless access point to use with my personal equipment?
    1. Though these requests can be sent to the network group for consideration. Typically these types of requests are denied for security reasons.
  8. Why do the computers take so long to boot sometimes?
    1. Provisioned computers connect to the network and get all of the information streamed to them from remote locations. Sometimes if there is an issue with Network, servers, or there is simply more users trying to connect at once this can cause the provisioned computers to take longer to load.
