New for 2020-2021

Students who are in enrolled in a PE class in 8th grade will take PEI for HS credit and if they receive a C or better they will have met the prerequisite for PE II in 8th grade.  Students will be able to elect to take PE II for HS credit if they so choose.  If a student does not want to take PE II after completing PEI they will be able to take PE II in HS.

If a student's elective periods are taken up with World Language for HS credit or Performing Arts for HS credit they will need to take PE I & PE II in HS.

The goal is to ensure all middle school students have the opportunity to earn HS credit prior to leaving middle school.   This increases access to advanced learning opportunities throughout HS.

Physical Education I (.25 credits)

  • Students develop knowledge of fitness benefits and principles; self-management, self-assessment, and goal-setting skills to build their own personal fitness plan. This course implements the CCS adopted HS text book, Fitness for Life to supplement the curriculum. Length of the course is one semester (60 hours), for .25 of high school graduating credit.
  • Students earning the equivalent of a C grade or higher will have the opportunity to advance to Physical Education II.

Physical Education II (.25 credits)

  • The Physical Education II course enables students with opportunities to perform advanced skills and at least one activity from the following categories of sport: invasion games, net/wall games, fielding/run-scoring games, and/or target games.
