Below are some terms that are often used when referring to Certify and how it is used.

Rule

A statement that data is validated against. For example: "All students must have at least one guardian"

Violation

When a rule is 'broken', this is considered a violation. These are what appear on your daily scorecard.

Scorecard

This is a tally of all of the rules that have been violated. Each user group receives their own score card for data they are responsible for keeping accurate. It is refreshed each night. Once violations have been corrected in Infinite Campus, the violation will be removed from the next day's score card.

Severity

A number from 1-5 (1=most severe) that places a value on the violation. Those violations that are most severe should be focused on first

Data Quality Score

The data score is a metric (value from 1-100) indicating the overall quality of your data. This is determined by an algorithm that takes into account the number of violations on a score card and the severity of each. The higher the score, the better the quality of your data.

Notification

This is a rule that is has a severity level of 5, and does NOT impact the Data Quality Score. An example would be a rule that notifies you when there is a new student in your building.

User Group

This is a logical grouping of Certify users based on area of responsibility. Those in the same group will receive the same scorecard with students for their school. For example, the Secondary Secretaries group includes all secretaries at middle and high schools.
