Fingerprinting / Background Checks
Upon the offer of a position, all new employees must be fingerprinted, and the results must be received prior to their hire date. Employees must have both a BCI (Ohio) and FBI background check completed. However, if they had these background checks completed within the last year, they may request copies be mailed to Columbus City Schools in lieu of paying for fingerprinting again.
All employees within the district are required to update their background check on a regular basis. For the most part, employees are fingerprinted every 5 years; however, the exception to the rule is Bus Drivers. Because Bus Drivers renew their license every 6 years, they complete their background check at the time they renew their license.Â
