Virus Troubleshooting
From time to time there will be issues with a number of different viruses/spyware. The way that we deal with these issues at CCS is with the Sophos virus protection software.
Troubleshooting:
- When an error occurs open the Sophos application either through Start/All programs/Sophos. Or through the Sophos icon at the bottom right of the screen.
*TIP you can also navigate to the affected drive/folder/document, hover over the icon and right click. Then click scan with Sophos.
- Select Scan my computer. This will run a scan of the infected computer.
- Once the scan has finished, a list of infected files and options of what to perform will pop up.
- You can then choose how you want to deal with the issue in the Quarantine manager.
Options:
- Clean up. Select the items displaying this option and then click 'Perform action | Clean up'
- Partially removed. Reboot required to complete the cleanup
Select these items and then click 'Clear from List.' Click on 'Home' and then 'Scan my Computer' to initiate a scan. Once the scan has complete, return to the Quarantine Manager to deal with any remaining items.
- If this appears a second time for the same items, make a ticket for the site techs.
- Insufficient rights. Try logging off user and logging in under install. If the same thing occurs. Make a ticket for the site techs.
