The Daily Attendance process at Elementary and K-6 schools is to change Unknown Absences marked by the teacher through the attendance module.

When absences are marked by the classroom teacher, the absence type is considered 'unknown'.  This status changes when the attendance office applies the appropriate excuse or unexcused code.  Violations of this rule mean that there are absences that have been unknown for more than 5 days.  These absences should be changed to Unexcused (UNX). If there is documentation supporting another excuse code, process appropriately.

How to prevent future violations

  • Review the instructions for Daily Attendance (Elementary) on the Infinite Campus Dashboard.
  • Absent Unknown attendance must be coded within 5 days of date of attendance date.
  • Change all Absent Unknowns to UNX and all Tardy Unknowns to TTC through the Attendance Wizard throughout the day, at the end of the day, or the beginning of the following day.
