Username and Password Security

All employees and staff:

As a District, we’ve invested a significant amount of time, training, and resources to better secure our data systems and ensure the integrity of the information contained within. Every Columbus City Schools employee contributes to maintaining that trust by properly following all protocols and procedures for inputting data using your CCS login and passwords.

During busy times or when you need some extra help entering data - such as attendance or approvals of purchase orders - it may seem easier or harmless to simply give an assistant or trusted coworker your password. It’s not harmless and is a violation that risks all that we have gained to build trust in our data.

Board Policy is clear: Do not share any of your CSS-issued logins or passwords. Your assigned login/password gives you specific rights and abilities within our data systems that are entrusted specifically to you, not someone else. Any data that is inputted or changed under your login is your responsibility - and you will be accountable for any errors.

If you need assistance with entering data and often look to someone else for help, our data team can assign that person with the proper credentials and rights to help you out. If you have questions, please call Janice Blocher at 614.365.6471.

Passwords are like toothbrushes: choose a good one and change it occasionally, but most importantly, don’t share it with your friends.
