Recommended Web Browsers

Google Chrome is the recommended web browser for accessing Confluence.  You can also use the latest versions of Safari or Firefox.  Internet Explorer does not render pages consistently and is NOT recommended.

If you are clicking a link via email to open Confluence and it opens Internet Explorer, ask your building tech to help you change your default web browser to Chrome.

Restricted Spaces

Some areas of Confluence are restricted and require a username and password to access.  The example below is for the CAP (Columbus Administrative Portal).

If you see the message above, it means you have not entered your Confluence username and password. Locate the  icon in the upper right corner of your browser and click to enter your credentials.

  • To enter your credentials, select Log in with Google:

  • When prompted, enter your CCS email address or choose it from a list.  Click Next, then enter your password.

  • To request access to restricted Atlassian Confluence Spaces, submit a support ticket.

Malformed Request

If you get an error message like the one below, you may need to clear your browser cache.  After the steps below are completed, close all of your web browser windows and try to log in again.

How to clear your cache:

A great article for most major browsers can be found here.  See below for Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

(Google Chrome Browser):

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.

  2. At the top right, click More

    More
  3. Click More tools then Clear browsing data.

  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select All time.

  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.

  6. Click Clear data.

(Microsoft Edge Browser)

To clear the cache, you’ll need to navigate to the Clear Browsing Data option. To get there:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge.

  2. Click the Settings and More menu (the three ellipses).

  3. Click Settings.

  4. Underneath Clear Browsing Data, click Choose What to Clear.

  5. Select the items below then click Clear.

Missing Email Notifications

If you are not receiving email notifications for updates to Confluence pages you subscribe to (such as the CAP), your mail might be being directed to your Clutter folder in Outlook.

To rectify this, find a message like the one above in your Clutter folder, and drag it to your inbox.  This will prevent future messages from going to your Clutter folder.

Adding a Shortcut on your Desktop or Browser

For those having difficulty accessing Confluence via a link in email, you may wish to create a desktop or browser shortcut.  The examples below are shortcuts to the CAP using the Google Chrome browser (recommended.)

  1. Enter the following URL in your Google Chrome Browser:  https://columbus.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AU

  2. Click the settings icon

    in the upper right corner

  3. Select More Tools

  4. Select Create Shortcut

  • Name the shortcut whatever you'd like, then click Create.

  • The shortcut will appear on your desktop:

You can also add a shortcut on the Bookmarks toolbar of your browser.

  1. Enter the following URL in your Google Chrome Browser:  https://columbus.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/AU
