New for 2020-2021:

Students in middle school will be expected to complete Physical Education I (#950105) and Physical Education II ( #950205) by the end of the 8th grade (see information below). 

 

 Physical Education I (.25 credits) 

  • Students develop knowledge of fitness benefits and principles; self-management, self-assessment, and goal-setting skills to build their own personal fitness plan. PE I is specifically designed to help students to become better independent decision-makers relative to their fitness and exercise habits. This course implements the CCS adopted HS text book, Fitness for Life to supplement the curriculum. Length of the course is one semester (60 hours), for .25 of high school graduating credit. 
  • Students earning the equivalent of a C grade or higher will have the opportunity to advance to Physical Education II.

Physical Education II (.25 credits)

  • The Physical Education II course enables students with opportunities to perform advanced skills and at least one activity from the following categories of sport: invasion games, net/wall games, fielding/run-scoring games, and/or target games. Students will successfully participate in sports demonstrating skills of the game and applying the tactics, knowledge and concepts of the game. Students taking PE II will participate in the Ohio Department of Education Physical Education Evaluation. Length of the course is one semester (60 hours), for .25 of high school graduating credit.
