Entering a Resolution using the Behavior Management Tool

  1. Verify that the correct school and year shows at the top of the screen.

  2. Click on the Main Menu.

  3. Click Behavior Office.

  4. Under the Behavior Management heading, click Behavior Management.

  5. Select the Incident: You can also access the incident from the individual student’s behavior tab or from the Behavior Management Tool. 

  6. Review the Incident details to ensure they are complete and appropriate.

  7. Review the Event/Participants for verification.

  8. Click the ‘Add Resolution’ Button - Resolutions will need to be added for all the participants, victims, witness, as well as the offenders.

SPECIAL NOTE: The Behavior Resolution Guide will help decide what dates should be used in the following fields. It is highly recommended that you reference this sheet when entering dates.

  1. Select a Resolution Type: This is a required field.  From the drop-down menu select the appropriate Resolution Type. This field indicates the consequence assigned to the student. Using certain CCS Resolution Codes will enter absences for the student. 

10.   Enter a Resolution Assign Date: This is a required field. When was the consequence assigned?

11.   Enter a Resolution Start Date: Indicates when the student will begin serving the consequence.  For attendance related resolutions the date entered in this field will identify the date attendance marks will begin.

12.   Enter a Resolution Start Time: Indicates when the student will begin serving the consequence.  For attendance related resolutions the time entered in this field will identify the time attendance marks will begin. 

13.   Enter a Resolution End Date: Indicates when the student will end serving the consequence.  For attendance related resolutions the date entered in this field will identify the date attendance marks will end.

14.   Enter a Resolution End Time: Indicates when the student will end serving the consequence.  For attendance related resolutions the time entered in this field will identify the time attendance marks will end.

15.   Enter Duration in School Days: This is the total number of days assigned and is only required for resolutions that affect attendance.

16.   Select an Attendance Code: (This field only displays if you select a resolution type that will affect the student’s attendance) Select the code appropriate to the resolution selected.

17.   Select the Behavior Admin Staff Name from the drop-down menu.

18.   Enter the Resolution Details:

  • Enter additional information regarding the resolution.

  • Details entered here must be specific to the resolution.

  • Do not enter any student names in this field.

  • Certify violation if details are not entered.

  • he Resolution details field is not the same as the Incident Details field.

  • Information entered in this box could potentially print on the behavior letter.

19.   Enter Discipline Modified details if the resolution is adjusted.

20.   Select Referred for Alternative Education from the drop-down menu, if applicable.

21.   Select a PS-3 Discipline Reason Detail if applicable: Indicates the reason a student from preschool to grade 3 will receive an Expulsion or Out-of-school Suspension resolution for a discipline incident.

22.   Enter Entered per Direction of if applicable: To be used if another staff member is recording a resolution on behalf of the building administrator.

23.   Enter Direction Received if applicable: Indicates how the staff member received the information about the resolution from the administrator.

24.   Letter Date (if applicable): The date that the letter associated with the Resolution will be generated.

25.   Enter the Hearing Date using the MM/DD/YYYY format or use the calendar icon (if applicable).

26.   Enter the Hearing Time using the HR:MM format (if applicable). It is not necessary to enter am or pm.

27.   Enter a Return Date (if applicable).

28.   Select a date for Hearing Office Referral Submitted (if applicable). Enter the date the hearing office was contacted to schedule a hearing.

29.   Click checkboxes under Apply To (if applicable): Click the checkbox next to the name of the student(s) who are receiving the current resolution. All students selected during the event/participant section will display. The resolution can be added to more than one student.

30.   Click the ‘Check for Attendance Conflicts’ button. (Users must click this button whenever it appears - THIS IS A REQUIRED STEP IF A RESOLUTION THAT AFFECTS THE STUDENTs ATTENDANCE HAS BEEN SELECTED).

  • If conflicts are detected, further review may be necessary. 

  • If the resolution should be the correct attendance event, select ‘Overwrite Existing Attendance’ before saving.

31.   Click the Save button.

32.   Repeat these steps for all people connected to the incident.
