Promotion, Placement or Retention

To align with BOARD POLICY 5410: PROMOTION, PLACEMENT, AND RETENTION and its administrative guidelines, a placement comment has been made available to add to report cards.

The options include:

Your scholar will be promoted for the 2026-2027 school year.
Your scholar will be placed in the next grade for the 2026-2027 school year.
Your scholar will be retained for the 2026-2027 school year.

Adding a Comment

The appropriate comment must be added to each student individually.

Use the Tool search type and search for Report Comments.

Choose Report Comments > Student Information > General

You may also navigate to Student Information > Report Comments

Click on Report Comments above.

Click Report Card and choose the appropriate comment, then click Save.

Make sure to only choose one comment from the available options.

On May 20, 2026 Infinite Campus Support Team will run a script in the database that marks all K through 8th grade students as Promoted since this is the majority of our students. This means that schools only need to manually update those students who are Retained or Placed. Make sure that only ONE comment box is checked for each student and the checkbox is for the appropriate school year. This should be done by a school official.

Logging Contact with Parents/Guardians

Follow the directions at the link below to create a Contact Log entry on the PLP log to show that you have communicated with your student’s family regarding their retention or placement for the 2026-2027 school year
- PLP log entries are not required for students being promoted
