NEW SPED SECTION NUMBERING GUIDANCE

Scheduling for Students with Disabilities - Spring, 2022 Recommendations

As the Department of Specialized Instruction and Inclusion continues to embed resources and professional development opportunities regarding inclusive practices, including how and where students with disabilities are educated, the following recommendations are being provided to all building administrators as master schedules are developed.

It is the intent of the Department, in collaboration with the entire Academic Services team, that students with disabilities are afforded opportunities to be educated with their typical peers as often as possible (based upon the school schedule) and appropriate (based upon their learning needs).

Students with disabilities will be educated in the general education setting (with or without accommodations) or in a co-taught/inclusionary setting within minimal “pull-out” services.

In order to have consistency in our coding system for SPED courses, please begin using the following numbering system for the 2022-2023 schedules (note: course numbers are already set in Infinite Campus): Below are the section numbers that should be used to differentiate between the student populations in each course.

  • Please note: we will no longer be using “E” courses, except for APE courses (that is the only exception).
